Fairfield Beats Pittsburgh In 11 Innings

The Fairfield Stags, co-favorite to win the MAAC, earned their first victory of the 2010 season and it was a thriller, a 5-4 11 inning win over Big East school Pittsburgh.

2009 MAAC pitcher Of The Year Sarah Minice didn't start the game played at the Tar Heel Invitational on the North Carolina campus, but she came in and shut the door on the Panthers. Kelli Panter started the game for the Stags, but was pulled in the 8th inning after Pittsburgh tied the score at 4 in favor of Minice who allowed only 1 hit in extra inning play. The Stags would score on a wild pitch in the top of the 11th to secure the win.
