The Siena Saints, continuing their recently improved play, won their first 2010 MAAC game in a doubleheader split at Fairfield Sunday.

Fairfield won the first game of this doubleheader coming back from a 4-1 defecit with 8 runs in the 5th and 6th innings. Siena's Shannon Jones, in the midst of an outstanding freshman season, was responsible for all of the Saints runs hitting 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs including her 5th homer of the season. But The Stags came storming back---Kristina Lingo was 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs; Kayla Marth doubled home 2 more; Dani Griswold was 2 for 3; Megahan Borst had 2 hits and a RBI. Sarah Minice weathered the early storm to win her 11th game of the season.
The game was a milestone for Fairfield Head Coach Julie Brzezinski as it marked the 600th win of her career.

The second game was a back and forth affair, as the teams traded leads. The Stags jumped in front in the first when Kristie Trifiolis scored on a bases loaded walk. The Saints tied it up in the second off a Nastasha Powlowsky sacrifice fly. Fairfield jumped back in front in the third when Allie Ritacco singled home a run. Courtney Brinkman drove home a run in the fourth; Kristen Vaughn doubled home a pair in the fifth; and Amanda Ferro double home a run in the sixth to give the Saints a 5-3 lead. Fairfield scored a run in the seventh when pinch hitter Jenna DiBernardo drove home a run, but the game ended with Laura Carta stranded on third.

Siena is now 1-5 in the MAAC; 8-31 overall. Fairfield is in second place in the MAAC with a 5-1 record; 19-15 overall.
