Fairfield remained unbeaten by virtue of a doubleheader sweep of Marist Saturday at Alumni Softball Field in Fairfield, CT.

The Stags built a 5-0 lead in game one and weathered a late inning Marist rally to hold on for the victory. Allie Ricatto (pictured) started things off for the Stags in the second inning with the first of her three hits and was eventually sent home, along with Laura Carta, by an Ali Wigand single. Fairfield made it 3-0 the next inning when team leading hitter Dani Griswold hit one over the left field fence. Allie Ricatto then drove home Meghan Borst to give the Stags a four run lead.

Meghan Borst drove in another run in the fourth inning and Fairfield starter Sarah Minice was cruising along until Marist mounted a comeback beginning in the sixth inning. A double by Nicole DiVirgilio and a single by Ashley Corriss produced RBIs for both and cut the Fairfield lead to 5-2. In the seventh the Red Foxes would score twice more on another Nicole DiVirgilio RBI double, and a McCallion Campbell single. Unfortunately for Marist, Nicole was left stranded on third as the inning and game ended with a double play. Sarah Minice held on for her 10th win of the season.

Game two was tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning when the Stags exploded for eight runs in two innings to end the game early. Meghan Borst had three RBIs, Kayla Marth was 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs as well. Kelli Panter pitched very well again and improved her record to 6-4.

Fairfield is now 4-0 in the MAAC, 18-14 overall. Marist dropped to 0-4 and 4-23.
