Final Week Of MAAC Play

Heading into the final week of MAAC play, where do the teams stand?

The top four teams qualify for the MAAC Championship to be held at Canisius College May 13-15. Canisius and Iona are in; each team can be seeded no lower than #2. Fairfield and Niagara are currently at #3 & #4, and can simply win their way into the tournament. Manhattan is very much alive at #5. Rider and Siena are still alive, but will need to win out and get help.

Manhattan plays a makeup doubleheader at Marist Thursday. A Lady Jaspers sweep would set up an interesting scenario, as they will then host Fairfield Saturday. In other words, if Manhattan wins their final four games, they are in.

Niagara closes on the road at Siena Friday and at Marist Sunday. A split might be good enough for the Purple Eagles, but they better not count on that. If Siena swept Niagara, they would end the season hosting St. Peter's, a team that has not won a MAAC game all season. If they won all four games, and Fairfield swept Manhattan, the Saints would be in.

They are more strange scenarios, but it should be a very interesting and competitive weekend.
