Jaci Rahey Named First Team All-Region

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association today named Manhattan's Jaci Rahey as a Northeast Region First Team selection.

Jaci finished first in the MAAC with 58 RBIs; second in hitting with a .409 average; and tied for third with 10 home runs.

These coaches selections are never consistent and "all star" teams are very hard to pick, but it's a bit curious that Rahey named to first team, but Healy makes second team (greatlakes region) although her numbers are substantially higher and plays a tougher defensive position. Jaci had a great year, and deserves the honor, but I saw most of MAAC conference tournament and took note of which player was receiving multiple intentional walks.

Yes I was there, and no one wanted to pitch to Teresa. Even when they did not intentionally walk her, they would not give her anything near the strike zone.

why do people try to give backhanded compliments instead of just congratulations. there are always differing opinions but it seems rude to post sour grapes here

I was within a few feet of Jaci as she was walking to the Manhattan bus after the Lady Jaspers were eliminated from the MAAC Tournament; I would say she's the most athletic player in the MAAC. I'll be adding a profile of Jaci later in the summer.
