Lisa Blanton Named All-Nassau County MVP

Incoming Rider freshman Lisa Blanton just completed her career at Hilliard High School in Hilliard, FL by being honored as Nassau County Most Valuable Player. Lisa is spending her summer playing for the Jacksonville Storm Gold before she reports to Lawrenceville in August to begin her career with the Broncs.

Setting a goal to improve her batting average, Blanton hit .427 in 2010 while finishing with 32 hits, 12 RBIs and 27 runs. She also led the infield with a fielding percentage of .91 at shortstop. Blanton's performance earned her a spot on the Miracle Sports Class 2A All-State Third Team and this year's All-Nassau County Most Valuable Player.

Prior to the season, Blanton made school history by becoming the first Lady Flashes player to sign a Division I scholarship by signing with Rider University in November. The prospect of leading the Lady Broncs as a freshman gave Blanton extra motivation to take charge on the field for the Lady Flashes.

"Usually freshmen don't start in college," Blanton said. "One of my goals is to start as a freshman, so this year I really wanted to lead the team..."
