MAAC Players---Lizzy Gatto, Canisius

*Update 10/2/11*
Lizzy was named to the All-MAAC Second Team in 2011, hitting .319 with 13 extra base hits and 26 runs. She was a perfect 21-21 stealing bases, one of only three players in the nation to steal over 20 bases without getting thrown out.

Canisius center fielder Lizzy Gatto was at the top of the MAAC late in the 2010 season and hitting over .400 when Fairfield's ace Sarah Minice threw an inside fastball which broke Lizzy's finger. She played with the injury through the end of the season, showing what a tough player she is, but her quest for a conference batting title ended. She did, however, end the season with a very respectable .348 average and a place on the All-MAAC First Team.

The junior from Hollister, CA is an all around player who can do it all. She can hit for average, and for power. She can run, stealing 17 bases in 2010. She has a great arm, and covers a lot of real estate in center. She's also a clutch player. At St. Bonaventure last season with her team down two runs with two outs in the 7th inning, Lizzy calmly stepped up to the plate and cranked a three run homer deep over the center field fence. As a freshman in the 2009 MAAC championship game, she hit a homer and was named to the All-Tournament team.

Lizzy will keep MAAC pitchers busy for the next two years!
