Monmouth Box Score

Sarah Jackson completes shutout road trip and Gaels hit leadoff homers to beat Monmouth and take 3 of 4 in Norfolk, VA.

Junior Sarah Jackson produced another goose egg Sunday breezing through a win against Monmouth. Sarah allowed only a pair of singles in this one and struck out 7. She walked no one, and did not allow a runner past first base. Sarah improved her record to 4-0.

The Gaels got solo homers from two of their All-MAAC players. Jodi Petersen led off the game with a blast over the center field fence. Eileen McCann (pictured) responded by leading off the 2nd inning with a blast to the same spot. The Gaels cemented their lead in the 5th inning when Alyssa Maiese singled home a pair of runs for a final score of 4-0.

The Gaels lost their final game of the weekend, 3-0 to George Washington. Alyssa Maiese started; she didn't do badly but gave up the go ahead run after an illegal pitch in the 4th inning. After giving up a lead off double in the 5th inning, Alyssa was relieved by Deanne Algeo who surrendered 2 hits for 2 runs. The Gaels had 5 hits in this one, all singles. Twice they had a runner at 3rd base, but could not cash in either time.

The Gaels are next in action this coming weekend at the UMBC Retriever Classic.
