Krysti Maronski's Rider Debut
It's been a tough opening weekend for Rider, but one bright spot for the Broncs was the performance of freshman pitcher Krysti Maronski (pictured). The Woodbury Heights, NJ native pitched a very good game in her college debut against undefeated Presbyterian Saturday at the North Carolina A&T Invitational. Krysti pitched a complete game plus an extra inning, allowing only a run on 5 hits; she struck out 5. Unfortunately, the Broncs could manage only one hit in the game, a 7th inning single by Amanda Centeno. Rider lost the game in extra innings when, after a runner was placed on 2nd base with the international tiebreaker rule in effect, a bunt and a single gave Presbyterian the walk off 1-0 win. A good debut for Krysti Maronski though.
The Broncs lost their second game of the day to Western Carolina. Kehli Washington scored Rider's only run of the game on a passed ball in the 6th inning after she had singled and stolen second base. Lucy Higgins had a pair of hits for the Broncs.
Rider will wrap up the tournament Sunday with a game against host North Carolina A&T.
