Senior Melissa Donnelly hit 4 for 7 including a 3 run home run in helping the Manhattan Lady Jaspers to a doubleheader sweep of Lafayette in Riverdale, NY Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Jaspers love playing at home on the fast field of Gaelic Park; 6 extra base hits propelling them to a pair of wins. Game one was close, with the Lady Jaspers coming from behind in the 5th inning to close the deal. After Melissa Donnelly and Katie Bowen singles, and a Melissa Cascio fielder's choice RBI, Kristina Walraven drove home the winning run with a single that scored Katie Bowen. Monica Evangelista and Carla Velasquez also drove home runs. Erika Sullivan improved her record to 4-2, and in typical fashion walked no one. She struck out 4 batters.

In game two, the LJs fell behind 1-0 after a half inning, but then exploded for 11 runs in their first 3 at bats to win in run rule fashion. Melissa Donnelly hit her homer in the 2nd inning, and finished with 4 RBIs. Ashley Rampino was 2 for 2, the hits both being doubles good for 3 RBIs. Monica Evangelista also hit a pair of doubles that sent 3 runners home. Ashley Rampino earned her 2nd win of the season, striking out 3 batters.

The Lady Jaspers will be at Quinnipiac Sunday for a doubleheader.
