Katie Bowen Homer Gives LJs A Split

Manhattan 3
Columbia 1

Columbia 4
Manhattan 1

Katie Bowen continued her strong freshman season by hitting a 3 run home run that gave Manhattan a win against Columbia Tuesday at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY.

After a rough first inning of game one of this doubleheader that saw Columbia take a 1-0 lead on 3 hits, Manhattan starter Ashley Rampino settled down and shut out the Lions the rest of the way, striking out 5 in the process. Katie Bowen provided the offense for the Lady Jaspers in the 4th inning when she hit a 2 out homer over the right field fence.

Manhattan could not get their bats going in the second game, although they did score in the 5th inning to cut the Columbia lead to 2-1. The LJs produced their only 2 hits of the game in this inning---Meghan McDevitt singled and Jen Keller doubled. After Monica Evangelista was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Jaci Rahey walked to score the only run Manhattan would get in this game. Erika Sullivan took the loss.

Manhattan is back in action Thursday with a doubleheader at Wagner.
