Kim Bryson Throws One Hitter; Niagara Splits
Freshman Kim Bryson (pictured) turned in another stellar performance, helping her Purple Eagles split on Sunday at the Dawg Pound Invitational in Baltimore, MD.
With her two wins this weekend, Kim Bryson has vaulted over the other pitchers in the MAAC. She threw another great game against Drexel, retiring the first 11 batters she faced. She allowed only one hit while striking out 8. The Purple Eagles got her the early lead when Becky Zill clubbed a 2 run homer over the left field fence immediately following Teresa Healy's double. Alexis Wayne added to the lead in the 3rd inning when she drove home Kayla Hines. Niagara put up another pair of runs in the 7th inning for good measure on a Jen Hare RBI and a Teresa Healy run scored as a result of a wild pitch. Teresa was 3 for 3 in this game.
The Purple Eagles began Sunday against Brown, and tied the game with a 2nd inning Kayla Hines solo shot, but could never really get their offense going in this one, although Maggie McDonald was 3 for 3 and Kristin Sito was 2 for 3. Niagara could not execute any sacrifices, and was the victim of two double plays. Julie DiMatteo allowed two home runs and took the loss.
Niagara won 3 of 5 and will be returning to Baltimore this coming weekend.
