Kim Bryson Throws Shutout

Niagara 7
Coppin St. 0

Box Score

Niagara won their second game of a Saturday tripleheader when freshman Kim Bryson (pictured) shutout Coppin St. at the Dawg Pound Invitational in Baltimore, MD.

The MAAC has a lot of talented freshman pitchers this season, and Niagara has one themselves. Kim Bryson picked up her first college win by pitching a complete game 3 hit shutout. Kim was in control throughout, striking out 8 and not allowing a runner to advance past 2nd base. She didn't walk a single batter either.

Her teammates gave her plenty of support in this game. The Purple Eagles scored a pair of runs in the 4th inning---with a Kayla Hines lead off home run, and then a Jaclyn Russell sacrifice fly that sent Kristin Sito home after she had tripled. In the 5th inning, Niagara put up 2 more runs. Teresa Healy singled and scored after 2 errors, and then Kristin Sito drove home a run of the game with a single. The Purple Eagles struck for 3 more in the 6th inning with an Alexis Wayne homer, and RBI hits by Becky Zill and Jen Hare.

The Purple Eagles continue Sunday in Baltimore with games against Brown and Drexel.
