Katie Jansson on Iona deserves to be ROY. She went 6-7. One of Iona's only consistent hitters. Did great on defense too, throwing out a runner and doing great behind the plate.

Katie is off to a great start her freshman season. However, the Gaels lost both their games this weekend.
One of the reasons I'm doing this is because the MAAC seems only to quickly look at some statistics. For instance, last week they chose as their "player of the week" a player whose team went 0-5 and got mercy ruled in 3 of the games.
If you look at my choices this week, they were all instrumental in helping their teams win games.
I know Katie had a good weekend, and I have been noticing her play since last fall. We will be hearing a lot more from her this season and in the coming years.
