Purple Eagles Begin Long Day With Win
Senior Teresa Healy (pictured) hit a 3 run homer to propel Niagara to a win over Morgan State. Niagara is playing a tripleheader at the Dawg Pound Invitational in Baltimore, MD Saturday.
Poor field conditions delayed the start of this tournament, and Niagara began their busy Saturday early. In the bottom of the first inning in their game against Morgan St., the Purple Eagles led off with singles by Maggie McDonald and Brittany Richberg. The 2010 MAAC Player Of The Year Teresa Healy then smashed her second homer of the season to give her team a 3-0 lead. Morgan St. would walk Teresa her next 3 at bats.
Niagara added two more runs in the 3rd inning with consecutive RBI doubles by Kristin Sito and Kayla Hines. A bases loaded single by Becky Zill in the 6th inning gave Niagara a 6-2 win. Bri Allen made her first start in a Purple Eagles' uniform and went the distance, picking up her second win of the season.
Niagara continues today with games against Seton Hall and Coppin St.
