Rider Gets First Win
Heather Muscara (pictured) drove home 3 runs and freshman Krysti Maronski won her first career game as the Broncs get their offense going and beat George Mason at the Patriot Classic Saturday.
Krysti Maronski made her second career start, and has still not allowed an earned run this season. This time out however, she got the support she needed and won going away. George Mason got on the board first after a 2nd inning walk and error by third baseman Jen Steward. And though for a time it looked as if Rider's bats may stay cold (they had scored only one run all season), they finally got going in the 3rd inning. Jen Steward led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch, then was sacrificed to 2nd base by Amanda Centeno. Heather Muscara followed that by ripping a double to left field to tie the game. The Broncs took the lead for good in the 5th inning. After Kehli Washington walked and Jen Steward reached on an error, Heather stepped up again and singled them both home, giving Rider a 2 run lead. She advanced to 3rd base on the throw home, and was singled in by Sam Pugh, giving the Broncs some insurance. Krysti Maronski threw a 2 hitter and continued her impressive showing in her young career.
Rider continues today in Fairfax, VA with a game against Cornell.
