Fairfield got great pitching and staged a 7th inning comeback, winning a pair of games at the Stony Brook Invitational Saturday.

Senior Sarah Minice (pictured) held Stony Brook to 3 hits and kept the Stags close until they came storming back in the 7th inning to win. Sarah allowed only a single unearned run while striking out 5. The Stags entered the 7th inning down 1-0 and opened with a Kristen Filicia single and Mikayla Shumate walk. With one out, Kristina Lingo bunted, and everyone was safe. Ali Wigand then hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game, and Mikayla Shumate scored the winner due to a passed ball. Sarah Minice retired the Seawolves in order for the win.

Earlier in the day, the Stags run ruled Holy Cross. Kristina Lingo was 2 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Rae Ball was 3 for 4 with a pair of runs. Lauren Liseth, Kristen Filicia, Macy Cutshaw, Kimi Kurata and Rachel Beaudoin all contributed RBIs. Freshman Rebecca Trott had another very good outing, pitching all 6 innings and striking out 11.

Fairfield will play the same two teams Sunday.
