The Niagara Purples Eagles scored an astounding 36 runs in just 8 innings in their doubleheader sweep of St. Peter's Sunday afternoon in Niagara Falls, NY.

The thunder that interrupted game one for an hour must have been an omen of things to come, as the hardest hitting team in the MAAC scored at will against the Peahens. Instead of giving you a blow by blow account and wearing out my keyboard, here are the highlights: MAAC hitting leader Teresa Healy drove home 8 runs on the day, and increased her average to .487. She hit her MAAC leading 9th homer as well. Sophomore Becky Zill concluded a fabulous week by hitting 2 homers, and 8 RBIs too. Alexis Wayne was 3 for 3 in game two with a homer and 5 RBIs. Also hitting homers today were: Kayla Hines, Maggie McDonald and Sarah Anthon, giving the Purple Eagles 7 for the day. Niagara had 13 hits in each game. In game two, Julie DiMatteo pitched the 2nd no hitter of her career, striking out 3 and walking only 1. For St. Peter's, Kristen Kaneyuki did have 2 RBIs, but I'm sure this is a day the Peahens would rather forget.

Niagara improved to 3-1 in the MAAC; St. Peter's dropped to 1-5.
