The Rider Broncs exploded for 9 runs in game one of a doubleheader vs. Stony Brook Sunday in Lawrenceville, NJ.

Rachael Matreale finally got the run support she's been looking for all season, winning her 4th game of the season with a 7 strikeout performance. Rider jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game one of the non conference doubleheader, beginning with a 2 RBI single by Samantha Mayer in the 3rd inning. The Broncs increased their lead with a 4 run 5th inning. Samantha drove home her 3rd run of the game with a single, and was followed by Lisa Blanton who singled home another run. A 2 RBI single by Jen Steward then gave Rider a 6 run lead. Stony Brook got 2 runs back in the top of the 6th inning, but Rider responded immediately in the bottom of the same inning. Samantha Mayer drove home her 4th run of the game with a single; Lisa Blanton singled home a run, giving the freshman 2 for the game. Samantha then scored on an error. A Stony Brook rally fell short in the top of the 7th inning. Brittany Eckett hit a home run in game two, but Stony Brook had jumped out to an early 6-0 lead which was too much for the Broncs to overcome.

Rider will host Fairfield for a MAAC doubleheader Monday.
