Game Two Box Score

Niagara exploded with two dozen runs in their sweep of Rider at Lawrenceville, NJ Sunday afternoon.

The Purple Eagles scored 10 runs in the final 2 innings of game one to win going away in a run rule shortened contest. Kayla Hines and Alexis Wayne each had 4 RBIs in this game; Jen Hare was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. The MAAC's hitting leader Teresa Healy was walked nearly every time at bat, but turned those free passes into 3 runs. Kim Bryson picked up her 8th win with the shutout, striking out 6 and walking no one. Rachael Matreale took the loss.

The second game was closer...for a little while. Niagara jumped ahead in the top of the 1st inning when Becky Zill hit a run home run, her 10th of the season which ties her for the conference lead. But Rider showed some life by coming back to tie the game in the bottom of the same inning. Alyssa Paul, who has been hitting very well as of late, doubled home Jen Steward to cut the Niagara lead in half. Lucy Higgins then singled Alyssa home, and the game was tied. The Purple Eagles went back in the lead in the 3rd inning when Becky Zill singled home a run; Jen Hare doubled home 2; and an Alexis Wayne sacrifice fly scored another. Rider tried to get back in the game in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring twice when Alexis Wayne dropped a fly ball in right field, but Niagara went on to score 6 more runs in the final 4 innings. Jen Hare hit a home run and finished with 6 RBIs; 8 for the day. Kristin Sito drove home a pair of runs, and once again Teresa Healy was walked 3 times, and scored twice. Julie DiMatteo picked up the win for Niagara; Krysti Maronski suffered the loss.

Niagara improved to 5-3; Rider fell to 1-7.
