Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score

This time Siena prevailed in extra innings and won their first conference games by sweeping Rider Sunday in Loudonville, NY.

Game one of this doubleheader was a tight pitchers' duel between Siena's Jessika-Jo Sandrini and Rachael Matreale of Rider. The Saints opened up the scoring in the 2nd inning thanks to a couple errors by Rider. Alyssa Sceppaguercio scored when first baseman Lucy Higgins threw the ball away. Rider tied the game in the 5th inning when Jen Steward singled home Lisa Blanton, who had been on base due to an error by Jessika-Jo Sandrini. So both teams had scored unearned runs as the game headed to extra innings. Rider loaded the bases in the top of the 9th after leading off with a walk to Alyssa Paul, and singles by Lucy Higgins and Samantha Mayer. Prospects were grim, but Siena escaped when second baseman Alyssa Sceppaguercio threw out 2 runners at home and Jessika-Jo induced a Kehli Washington pop up. Siena would then load the bases themselves in the bottom of the inning. After 2 outs, Jessika-Jo Sandrini got hit by a pitch (she is awfully good at that, isn't she? She leads the MAAC in that specialty!), and was followed by a Samantha Ray single and a wise and careful walk to Shannon Jones. However, Rachael Matreale then walked home the winning run when she issued a free pass to Sarah Gallachi. And once again, Rachael lowered her ERA, yet took a loss. Jessika-Jo evened her record to 7-7.

Siena scored 3 times in the 1st inning of game two, thanks to RBIs by Shannon Jones, Kayla Kaminsky and Courtney Brinkman. The Broncs got a run back in the 2nd inning with a Lucy Higgins RBI single. Shannon Jones singled home her 2nd run in the bottom of the 2nd to put the Saints up 4-1, but it was her 3 run homer to center field in the 4th inning that put this one to bed. Amanda Filippazzo picked up the win. The Broncs used 3 pitchers; with Rachael Matreale suffering her 2nd loss of the day.

Siena is now 2-4 in the MAAC; Rider falls to 1-5.
