Tori Nappo Commits To Canisius

Tori Nappo of Clarence, NY has verbally committed to play softball at Canisius College beginning in the 2013 season.

Tori just finished her junior season at Clarence High School where her team lost in the sectional final after making it to the New York State Class AA Final in 2010. She is an outstanding center fielder with a strong arm who can hit for power and average. Tori plays travel ball with the New Jersey Intensity, and was named Second Team All-American and First Team All-Eastern Region by the NFCA. When she arrives at Canisius, she will be reunited on the field with her sister Valorie, who just completed her freshman season with the Golden Griffins.

Fairfield At Manhattan 2008

A blast from the past...
This video is quite good, showing most of the game in highlight form. You'll recognize a lot of the just graduated Lady Jaspers playing in their freshman season.

Ausanio Has Marist Softball On The Move

An interesting write up on MAAC Coach Of The Year Joe Ausanio from the Buffalo News:

Ausanio and the Red Foxes last month tied a school record (with the 1995 and 2006 teams) for wins in a season, with 33. That's a 23-win improvement from 2010.

"I'm really pleased with how the program is evolving," Ausanio said. "The beautiful thing about coaching women is they're so absorbent. When you ask them to do something, and they see it works, it's amazing to see the transformation on their face."

The Kingston, N.Y., native was named the Anaconda Sports Coach of the Year for guiding the turnaround, during which Marist won 22 of its final 30 games, with a 13-game winning streak. The team led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in RBIs (253), extra-base hits (122) and on-base percentage (.384) and set a program record with nine run-ruled victories...
