It was a frustrating end to the weekend for MAAC teams. Marist was the only conference member to win...oddly enough, they were the only team who had their game totally blacked out with no coverage! The Red Foxes beat North Carolina A&T thanks in large part to Dani Koltz's grand slam, which snapped a four game losing streak.
The other teams didn't fare so well...
Fairfield got to the championship game of the Seahawk Classic, only to lose to Kansas 14-0.
Iona lost a 3-1 seventh inning lead in their game against Quinnipiac playing musical pitchers, then squandered a great Sarah Jackson performance (does she have any other?), losing 1-0 to Longwood. Sarah finally gave up an earned run this season; basically the Gaels only need to get her two runs, but it didn't happen today. Niagara got some great pitching also, from Kim Bryson after their nightmare Saturday, but also fell, 1-0, to East Tennesse State. St. Peter's allowed 11 runs in each of their games; Rider allowed 9 runs in each of their games.
Manhattan opens their season Wednesday with a February home doubleheader. Siena opens this coming weekend.
