Tough 7th Inning For Niagara

Becky Zill's three run blast wasn't enough today in Chattanooga

UT-Martin 6
Niagara 3

The Niagara Purple Eagles opened their 2012 season with a 6-3 loss to Tennessee-Martin Friday at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, TN.

Niagara saw a 3-1 lead disappear late in their game against UT-Martin today. The Purple Eagles had surged in front courtesy of a third inning, three run homer over the right field fence by catcher Becky Zill, which came after a walk to Ambur Farmer and a single off the bat of Amanda Werth. The game was tied entering the 7th inning when Niagara starter Julie DiMatteo got into trouble by hitting a batter and walking another. A one out double then scored the winning run.

Niagara plays later today against host Tennessee-Chattanooga.
