Because of pending weather problems this coming weekend, two MAAC series have had date changes. Niagara will now play at Siena on Friday; the Purple Eagles will then play at Marist on Saturday. Canisius will play St. Peter's in Jersey City on Friday. Their scheduled Saturday game at Manhattan remains the same.
Around the MAAC Wednesday, freshman Kelsi Redding threw her first career shutout in Manhattan's 5-0 win over Quinnipiac. Kelsi struck out eight in earning her second win of the season. Katie Bowen hit 5 for 6 in the doubleheader split.
St. Peter's was at home, and split a doubleheader with Lafayette. Shelby Beaver was in the circle for the Peahens' 2-1 win. Tori Feorenzo drove home the winning run. Chelsea Crews was 3 for 3 on the day; Nicole Olmedo also had three hits.
Niagara dropped a doubleheader to local rival Buffalo. Becky Zill did drive home three runs in game two.
Siena swept another doubleheader on Wednesday, beating Hartford 10-2, and 5-4. Shannon Jones drove home seven runs on the day; Jessika-Jo Sandrini doubled home the winner in game two in the bottom of the seventh inning. Head Coach Bill Lajeunesse talks about his team's nine game winning streak:
