Niagara Coach Al Dirschberger Retires

Sources inform me that long time Niagara University softball head coach Al Dirschberger has retired with the conclusion of the 2012 season.

Coach Dirschberger guided the Purple Eagles for 22 seasons, winning a MAAC Championship in 1998. Dirschberger was named MAAC Coach Of The Year in 2000 and 2007. He retires as the longest tenured coach at Niagara.

Coach Dirschbegrer and his staff were part time/volunteer. Due to a restructuring in the Niagara athletics department, the school will be seeking a full time coach, and I guess his other duties in life will not allow him to fulfill a full time position. Is Caitlin Lever possibly in the mix? Niagara will begin a national search for their new coach soon.
