Marist Will Host MAAC Tournament In '13

Once again, Marist College will host the MAAC Softball Championship in 2013. The tournament will begin May 9.
This will be the third consecutive season that the tournament will be held in Poughkeepsie, and the fourth in five seasons. Not sure why that is; my opinion is that it should be held at the campus of the regular season champion.

You're absolutely right!!! I wonder how that decision is made

If it was held at the campus of the regular season champion.... it would definitely make it more meaningful!!

While I agree with you, it is probably done that way because of time constraints, and proper time to prepare. If there happens to be that the regualr season champion is not determined until the last day of the season, then that particular hosting institution will only have a few days to prepare to host.
If the host site is already decided, then that institution has the time to prepare properly and host a great tournament. Alot of conferences around the USA in Division 1 do this type of format.

I could be wrong, but I think its voted on by the coaches based on schools that put in a bid to host. Fields also need to meet certain qualifications such as being able to limit access so that ticket costs can be collected. While it would be nice if they changed the location more often, I don't think it should automatically go to the regular season champs because not all the schools have adequate field conditions and proper viewing for spectators.
