|Freshman Dana Sensi off to great start|
Cleveland St. 2
The Rider Broncs earned the first win of their 2013 season this morning with a late inning rally over the Cleveland St. Vikings in Greenville, NC.
The Broncs continued to hit well in their first game today at the Pirate Classic, with another nine hit performance. Cleveland State got on the board first due to a passed ball in the top of the first inning, but the Broncs responded immediately when they hit safely three times after two outs in the bottom of the same inning. Alyssa Paul's double drove home Ally Breeden to tie the game. The Vikings hit a solo homer in the third inning to go up 2-1, but this time Rider would not be denied. They loaded the bases in the sixth inning with two base hits and a walk. Emily Cotrell then earned an RBI to tie the game, and an error by the CSU catcher allowed Alyssa Paul to score the winner.
Redshirt freshman Krista Morrone was again very good in earning her first career win. She allowed only three hits, striking out three batters. Over the last four innings of the game, she surrendered only a walk. Freshman Dana Sensi was 3 for 3 in this game, giving her five hits over her last two games. Kehli Washington was 2 for 4 with a stolen base. Rider will play Ohio later today.
