A Look Into The Future

Kayleena Flores leads Monmouth in hitting
Monmouth scored 7 late unearned runs to topple Rider, 11-3. The rest of the MAAC will have to contend with the Hawks in 2-14!

This afternoon, Rider will host the Monmouth Hawks in a sneak preview of the new MAAC which will begin in the 2014 season when Monmouth and Quinnipiac join the conference.

The Monmouth Hawks are currently chasing a championship in their final season as a member of the Northeast Conference. The Hawks are off to a good start in 2013, coming into Lawrenceville today with a 7-3 record. They are hitting .282 as a team, and feature a pitching staff with an ERA of 2.93, although two of those pitchers are seniors and will not play in the MAAC. We'll follow the two future MAAC schools more closely as they begin conference play.

As for Rider, they rebounded Sunday with a solid doubleheader effort. The Broncs are a team with an all freshman pitching staff who have suffered growing pains at times, but they need every inning they can get as MAAC season approaches. The Broncs do also have a promising pitcher joining the program next season. Rider heads to Florida after this home game.
