Big Inning Propels Siena Comeback Win

Jessika-Jo Sandrini struck out 7 Hoyas in the win
Siena 5
Georgetown 4

The Siena Saints came from behind to beat Georgetown 5-4 Saturday at the UMBC Spring Classic in Baltimore, MD.

The Saints had fallen behind in this game, 2-0 through five innings of play, having two bases loaded opportunities go by the wayside, when they got serious in the top of the sixth inning. Meg Volz got things going with a one out double, followed by a Georgetown error which placed her on third base and Mandy Ferro on first. Mandy stole second base, putting the tying run in scoring position. Abby Carpenter then stepped up and smashed a double to right field to tie the game at 2-2. A Chelsea Stout single, and walks to Alyssa Lancaster and Melanie Kelasse gave Siena a 3-2 lead. RBIs by Stephanie Viggiano and Shannon Jones increased the Siena lead to 5-2, and they would need those extra runs. Jessika-Jo Sandrini pitched the first five innings of the game, but was relieved to begin the bottom of the sixth inning. After a two run home run by Georgetown, she was quickly back in the circle, and finished what she started to earn the win.

The Saints are currently playing Morgan State.

Second win. First wasn't posted against coppin. She seems tobe recovering from whatever has kept her off the mound

Coppin State is the one school in the whole nation that does not provide timely statistical information. They don't even have box scores for their own team's games this season yet!
Thanks. J-J is 2-2.
