|Emily Cottrell smashed two home runs in game two|
The Rider Broncs avenged a game one thrashing by pounding out 16 hits in a 12-4 win over Hartford Tuesday in Lawrenceville, NJ. The Broncs lost game one 10-0.
After a lackluster opening performance, the Broncs smashed the ball all over the place in game two, including three home runs. Two of those homers came off the bat of freshman Emily Cottrell, including a first inning grand slam. They were the first home runs of Emily's career; she finished the game with five RBIs. Dana Sensi also homered for Rider. Amanda Irving was 4 for 4 in the game, including a double and two RBIs. Gina McCool was 3 for 4, with two RBIs. Kim Valdes and Kehli Washington each had a pair of hits; Kehli stole her MAAC leading 19th base, and now places 17th in the nation in base steals per game. Krista Morrone earned her fourth win of the season.
Now it's on to MAAC season for the Broncs, who will be at Saint Peter's on Saturday for a pair of conference games.
