St. Peter's battled hard in preparation for their MAAC opener this coming Saturday with a doubleheader split in Jersey City, NJ.
Lee Harrison continues to make her case for MAAC Rookie Of The Year...she's among the conference's leaders with a .351 average and four home runs. Today she made a big statement by taking matters into her own hands when she broke a 5-5 tie with UMBC in the bottom of the seventh inning of game two by launching a bomb over the center field fence. Lee's a big piece of the rebuilding being done at St. Peter's as they climb the hill back to days of former glory. The Peacocks have already a much improved offense as they await their top pitching prospect due to arrive in 2014. They pounded out 13 hits in game two against UMBC; Lee had three of them, as did Michelle Tinajero who was 3 for 3. Nicole Olmedo and Amber Velasquez had two hits apiece; Maria Maresca drove home a pair of runs. The Peacocks hit well in game one also, a 7-5 loss, with Lee getting a couple hits, making her 5 for 7 on the day. St. Peter's will have an excellent chance for a confidence booster Saturday when they host Rider to open conference play.
