|Elena Bowman began her Gaelic Park career with a bang!|
Hartford 2 (6)
The Manhattan Lady Jaspers opened their home schedule with a resounding 12-2 win over Hartford Sunday in Riverdale, NY. The two teams are currently playing game two of the doubleheader.
The 2013 version of the Lady Jaspers has shown itself to be offensively explosive. Against the Hawks today in the first game of a doubleheader, the LJs pounded out 12 runs on 12 hits. Freshman Elena Bowman had a remarkable game in her home debut, hitting 3 for 3 with two home runs, a double and six RBIs. Her first homer was a three run shot in the bottom of the second inning, which sparked a seven run outburst for Manhattan. Katie Bowen doubled home two runs in that inning; Emily Cutler and Jocelin Whitmore also drove home runs. Jocelin Whitmore then homered herself in the fourth inning, with Amanda Babcock adding an RBI for a 9-2 lead. Elena Bowman then blasted another three run homer in the sixth inning to end the game early. Katie Bowen, who picked up the win in the circle, was 3 for 4 at the plate.
I'll update this post later with the results of game two.
Just in...Manhattan lost the second game of the doubleheader, 1-0. Amy Bright pitched a three hitter in the loss, but the LJs could manage only two hits themselves.
