The MAAC's New Jersey teams opened up MAAC play against each other, and split their doubleheader Saturday in Jersey City, NJ.

Game one belonged to Shelby Beaver (pictured left) as she led St. Peter's to a 4-1 win with her strongest pitching performance of her senior season. Shelby seems to save her best for MAAC play, and today's opener was no exception. She held the Broncs to no hits through the game's first four innings; surrendering only five hits for the game. St. Peter's opened the scoring in the fourth inning. After a Nicole Olmedo double, and Sierra Parker single, Michelle Tinajero doubled them both home. Michelle's bat has been hot as of late; she was 3 for 3 in this game with three RBIs. The Broncs would halve the Peacocks' lead in the top of the fifth inning when Emily Cottrell hit a double that sent Amanda Irving home. But St. Peter's would score single runs in the next two innings, first in the bottom of the fifth when Chelsea Crews drove home Lee Harrison, who had doubled. They added another run in the sixth inning when Michelle Tinajero hit her second double of the game, which scored Sierra Parker. Ali Meagher took the loss for the Broncs. Sierra Parker and Nicole Olmedo had two hits each for the Peacocks.

Game two was a completely different story, as Rider unleashed their bats for 13 hits in an 11-2 run rule win. The Broncs stormed in front 4-0 in the top of the first inning with RBIs off the bats of Dana Sensi, Emily Cottrell, Gina McCool (pictured left) and Samantha Judd. St. Peter's got two of those runs back in the bottom of the third inning, with Chelsea Crews singling home Fran D'Amato, who had doubled, and Shelby Beaver driving home Chelsea. But the Peacocks would get no closer. The Broncs struck for a five run fourth inning, which featured a three RBI triple by Gina McCool, and RBIs by Emily Cottrell and Samantha Judd. The Broncs added the game shortening runs in the top of the fifth inning after Ally Breeden tripled and was sent home by Dana Sensi's single; Emily Cottrell added another run with a double. Emily was 3 for 3 with three RBIs; Gina McCool was 2 for 4 with four RBIs; Dana Sensi was 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Fran D'Amato and Shelby Beaver had two hit each for St. Peter's. Krista Morrone picked up the win in the circle; Erica Colon the loss. Both teams are now 1-1 in the MAAC.
