Red Foxes Clinch Berth With Sweep Of St. Peter's

The Marist Red Foxes secured a spot in the upcoming MAAC Championship by sweeping the St. Peter's Peacocks Sunday in Jersey City, NJ.

Marist took no chances in their quest of a sweep that would give them a post season berth. They pummeled the Peacocks 17-0 in game one, pounding out 20 hits. Home runs were hit by Nicole Cheek, Alyssa Zahka, Aly Klemmer and Kyrsten Van Natta. Dani Koltz, Nicole Cheek and Alyssa Zahka had four RBIs each. Emily Osterhaus earned the easy win.

Game two was more of the same, with Marist jumping in front 11-0 until freshman Lee Harrison hit a three run homer for St. Peter's in the bottom of the fifth inning. Dani Koltz homered for Marist, and picked four more RBIs for a total of eight on the day. Janine Lalli was 3 for 3, as was Maureen Duddy, who finished a perfect 7 for 7 on the day, while scoring an incredible eight runs. Paige Lewis earned the win.

Marist is now 10-4, and in first place, owning the tiebreaker over Fairfield. St. peter's dropped to 1-13.
