|It took Hannah a week to pitch this game!|
In the completion of a suspended game, Quinnipiac defeated Manhattan 2-0 Monday in Riverdale, NY behind the no hit performance of junior Hannah Lindsley.
This conference game, the second of a doubleheader, began on March 29, but play had been halted due to the dreadful weather we have had this season. Jordan Paolucci's second inning homer gave Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead before the teams packed it in. Fast forward to April 7, and the Bobcats resumed play in the top of the fourth inning with the bases loaded. A walk to Abby Johnson increased their lead to 2-0, but as it turned out, they didn't even need that run. Pitcher Hannah Lindsley was brilliant in the circle back when the game began in March, and continued to shut the door on the Lady Jaspers when the game resumed, tossing a no hitter. She walked only one batter in the effort to improve her record to 5-5. She made history too...she became the only pitcher in division 1 history to pitch a no hitter in a game that was played over two different days. Not an easy accomplishment when you think of it - she had the same great stuff after a week's span. She also became the first Quinnipiac pitcher to toss a no hitter in the school's D-1 history, which goes back 16 years.
The elongated doubleheader resulted in a split. The Bobcats continued their recent hot play, improving to 4-4 in the MAAC. Manhattan dropped to 1-3 in the conference.
