|Jayne Oberdorf off to great start in sophomore season|
The Marist Red Foxes completed their stay in Orlando, Florida this weekend, earning a split of their four games.
It was a good weekend for Marist at their impromptu tournament, as they finished 2-2 against good competition to begin their 2015 season. The Red Foxes began their Saturday with a nice win over a solid Campbell team. Sophomore pitcher Jayne Oberdorf was the story in this one. After spotting the Camels a run in the first inning, Jayne would allow only three hits the rest of the way to earn the victory. She struck out six while walking only three batters. Marist tied the game in the bottom of the third inning when Kyrsten Van Natta singled, stole a base, and eventually scored after a Campbell error. They took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jordynn Barrera drove home the winner, scoring Kourtney Paul on a suicide squeeze bunt.
Marist lost their second game of the day to Arkansas, 9-5, but were quite competitive vs. the SEC team, jumping out to a first inning 2-0 lead. Maureen Duddy hit 3 for 4 in the game, while freshman Sam Reilly drove home two runs.
