Another MAAC Season Comes To An End

It took her till the last day of her career - Maureen Duddy breaks record!
#13 Tennessee 10
Marist 2 (6)

Ohio St. 6
Marist 1

The Marist Red Foxes saw their record breaking 2016 season come to an end Saturday in Knoxville, TN, losing games to the host Lady Volunteers and Ohio St.

Friday's rains forced a condensed version of the Knoxville Regional, with the Red Foxes opening Saturday afternoon vs. Tennessee. Marist put up a good fight vs. the 13th ranked team, even taking a 2-0 lead thanks to Becca Freeman's homer in the top of the first inning. The game remained close until the late innings when the Lady Vols ended it early. Against Ohio St. in the subsequent elimination game, the Red Foxes fell behind in the first inning. And although they had many chances to get back in the game, they could not score until Madison Lee made it home on a passed ball in the seventh inning.

In the fifth inning of the game against Tennessee, Maureen Duddy made history when she stole second base. In doing so, she broke Canisius' Lauren Hope's MAAC career record for stolen bases. Ironic that it took Lauren until her last career day to break the record herself in 2011!

And so, we say farewell to another MAAC softball season! We say goodbye to the departing seniors, and look forward to the incoming freshmen (more on them later)!
