Regular Season Finale

Destiny Holani's 7th inning double lifted Canisius into the tournament
When Canisius won game two of their doubleheader at Quinnipiac Friday, thanks to freshman Destiny Holani's dramatic two out, two run seventh inning double, the Golden Griffins joined three other teams in qualifying for the upcoming MAAC Tournament. Marist, Monmouth and Manhattan all qualified earlier this week. Marist holds the edgein the pursuit of first place, and the right to host the tournament. One win in four games will do it for them. Canisius and Manhattan still have a chance to gain first place, should Marist stumble and lose all four games.

Heading into Saturday's games, two spots remain open to four teams. All the games will have tournament implications, so it should be an exciting day. Fairfield is in the best position of these teams, and will close their regular season at home vs. Iona. The Stags are currently 10-8 in the MAAC. Next is Niagara, in sixth place today. At 8-8, they play two teams they are battling for inclusion (Siena and Quinnipiac); they can get in without any outside help. Quinnipiac and Siena are both 7-9. QU plays at Rider on Saturday, then host Niagara on Sunday which could be for a spot in the postseason. Siena hosts Niagara Saturday, but then must play Marist, with their 40 wins, on Sunday, in Loudonville.

Stay tuned here for updates!
