The Iona Gaels will open their 45 game 2017 softball season on the weekend of February 17 in South Carolina in a tournament hosted by both USC Upstate and Furman. The Gaels will play Upstate, Campbell and Prebsyterian. On the weekend of March 4, Iona will be at Elon, NC for a tournament hosted by the Phoenix. St. Joseph's and Wagner will also participate. Iona flies west for a tournament at Riverside on the weekend of March 10, and will play games vs. the host Highlanders and Maryland, Weber St., Bryant and Tennessee-Martin.
After playing in Seton Hall's tournament on March 17-18, and tilts at Fordham and Penn on the 22nd and 25th, the Gaels will open the home portion of their schedule on March 28 when they host crosstown rival St. John's for a single game. Army is in town the next day for another single game. Iona will open MAAC play vs. Niagara at home on April 1, with Canisius coming in the next day. Iona will close their regular season on May 7 when they host conference rival Manhattan. The Gaels will play 7 home dates in 2017.
