NO HITTER! part 3

Not sure if this is a record, but for the third time this season a no hitter has been thrown in a MAAC conference game!

This time it was Niagara's sophomore ace Sierra Bertrand who tossed the no no. It was a crucial game for the Purple Eagles too, a 2-0 win over Quinnipiac. Niagara also won game two of the doubleheader, 8-6, and lifted themselves back into contention as the tournament approaches.

Elsewhere in the MAAC...
Iona holds the top spot currently with a 12-4 record. Manhattan and Siena, both at 11-5, still have a realistic shot at the number one seed. Marist got back into the top 6 with four road wins this weekend. The Red Foxes and Monmouth are both 10-6. Fairfield, Niagara and Quinnipiac are all battling for the number six spot.

NO HITTER! part 2

Two MAAC No Hitters in a week!

First it was Manhattan's Nicole Williams Wednesday vs. St. Peter's.

Saturday it was Iona's Lani Evans throwing a gem of a ball game, one that was on television too.
Lani struck out 10 Monmouth Hawks in the second game of the conference doubleheader in West Long Branch, NJ (the first being won by Monmouth via a 5 hit shutout by Amanda Riley). "Salami" allowed no hits in the 4-0 win. Iona stands at 7-3 in the MAAC; Monmouth 6-4.
